Happy New Year!!
There are are many advantages and disadvantages to owning a quilt shop. I won't bore you with the bad, BUT wanted you to join me in thinking about the GOOD.
I've been around this business too many years to count and have seen lots and lots of changes. I have also seen things come back around. That's what I want to focus on now-- the great things coming back.
The trend for purses and bags continues, but the trend I see coming back is structure in the bags. We now have wonderful frames and hardware available to make our projects transform from homemade to hand made. We have lots of frames and patterns coming in from Ghee's. If you have sneaked a peak at Jean's upcoming class -- Carpetbagger (picture under the Sample tab) , you know what a difference these make!!
Looking at patterns with Marsha I saw something else coming back -- geometric quilt patterns. One of the first samples I made for the shop on Avenue "O" was like this and very dramatic. I can't wait to make another one. They are fun and fast.
My first shop had no solids, only "read solids" such as marbles. Solids are back!! This is very obvious when you see our new Block of the Month--Amish with A Twist/Marcus. You heard that right. The new block of the month starts in February. Stop in the shop for details and sign up. -- Yes we will ship your summer blocks.
Happy Sewing
